Dad watching in amazement.
Oh well! There she goes.
Dad can't look.

Adventures of bird watchers

Fan belt broke at Iroquois Nat'l Wildlife Refuge.
AAA towed for free. Our EasyPass even paid the toll.

Our new peregrine find at the grain elevator next to

Myakka River State Park, Florida

Is he dead yet? Black vultures expecting a gator meal.
Sorry, gators love to play dead. Watch your feathers.

Air boat ride at the park. Didn't go but boat looks nice.

Vicki demonstrating primitive communication
device we discovered at the rangers station.

Cute wild boar family on Daniels Parkway
near our condo on the way to the park.

Canopy walk at Myakka park. Walkway is 35 feet up. Top of tower is 76'.

Looking down from the top. Walkway is suspended by cables
and rocks back and forth as you walk across. Very safe.

Cable suspended canopy walk at Myakka park. Nice view.

Lover's Key State Park

Osprey couple enjoying a 68 degree day, at last.

Nice place to raise a family.

Fun for young people on a nice February day.

Alligators galore at Okaloacooche Slough

This lazy boy wouldn't budge. Most would slip into the water.
All the gators we photographed were across a small stream about 30' from us with a barbed wire fence on this side.

No swimming here.

This is the next alligator after he slipped into the water.

We thought he might be dead covered with mud. Then he splashed into the water. His eyes and snout are those in the previous two photos.

A little guy sunning himself.

A big one just before he slipped into the water. Maybe he thought we would join him.

There he goes. Notice his eyes above the water.

Another "friendly" gator. You can tell by his smile.

Yet another hungry gator. Wonder what they eat? Could be birds.

February 6, 2010

Wild boar near our condo.

This wild boar was less than a mile from our condo along side the road.
(click photo to enlarge)

Spotting us, he slowly headed for the wild.
This is where the panther crossing signs are posted.
Now we know what the panthers eat.

Into the wild. Nice color coat.

Anhingas at Lakes Park and other fun.

Sign outside of the restaurant we ate at. Sure gets results.

Ten inch tall burrowing owls on Cape Coral. Cute little guys.
They burrow into the ground and build their nests underground.

One of many Anhingas we saw at Lakes Park. They swim under water
to catch fish. When they come out, they have to dry their wings before
they can fly. They have no oil on their wings so they can stay under water.

Another anhinga after fishing.

Alligator and anhinga enjoying the sun. Both drying off.

February 4, 2010 in Lakes Park, Ft. Myers, Florida. 78 degrees.

Another beauty.

Young Ibis who probably missed his boat.
